Period Inspiration:

A form born from the long afternoons of British India's hill estates, The Nilgiri Plantation Lounge Chair draws inspiration from the easy chairs and plantation loungers that once occupied the shaded verandahs of tea bungalows across the Nilgiris and South India. Designed for repose rather than ceremony, its generously reclined profile invites the unhurried rhythm of estate life, where conversations lingered and books were read against a backdrop of mist-covered hills.

Crafted in solid teak wood and fitted with natural cane panel, the chair reflects the practical elegance that defined Anglo-Indian furniture of the nineteenth century. The gently curved frame supports the body in a naturally relaxed position, while the turned front supports and broad armrests echo details commonly found in colonial plantation furniture. The breathable cane weave, prized in tropical climates for its comfort and ventilation, remains one of the most enduring hallmarks of Anglo-Indian craftsmanship.

Handmade by skilled artisans, this plantation lounge chair brings together historical authenticity, traditional joinery, and timeless comfort. Equally suited to a verandah, library, living room, or reading corner, it is a piece that recalls an era when furniture was built not merely to furnish a room, but to shape a way of life.
