Period Inspiration:

In the quiet glamour of the interwar years, when Parisian ateliers shaped the future of design and the world embraced the Machine Age, there emerged a new language of luxury: one defined not by ornamentation but by form, finish, and precision.
The Ruhlmann Chevron Art Deco Chest stands firmly within this lineage, echoing the refined sophistication pioneered by Émile-Jacques Ruhlmann, whose furniture elevated veneer work to high art.

Here, the rich surface of the chest unfolds in meticulously arranged chevron-cut timber, its grains converging like rays of light across a polished horizon. The sharply stepped geometric inlay, trimmed in brass fillets, reflects the mathematical elegance championed at the Exposition Internationale des Arts Décoratifs et Industriels Modernes in Paris in 1925 - the moment that defined the Art Deco movement.

The chest’s softened corners, rounded with the smoothness of ocean-liner cabin walls, capture the aerodynamic ethos of late-1920s Streamline Moderne, while the robust solid-brass campaign-style pulls evoke the glamour of international travel and the rising cosmopolitanism of the period. Behind each drawer lies the practical soul of Deco design: exacting craftsmanship, smooth mechanics, and an unwavering devotion to order. Whether housing fine linens, archival prints, or everyday objects, the piece performs its duty with the quiet dignity of a bygone age.

A work of geometry and grace, this chest is not merely storage - it is an heirloom of the modern world’s first golden age of design.
